Date with Isabelle

Chubbs turns 8months old! We brought him to the paediatrician for his second pneumococcal jab yesterday and are very pleased that he gained 300g in one week, weighing in at 8.9kg. The semi-solids meals have worked wonders; Chubbs now looks pink and healthy again. I pray that he will keep up the good eating. I commented to Fuzzy that if Wilbur from Charlotte's Web had a human face, he'll look just like Chubbs! Fuzzy was not in the least amused that I paralleled our firstborn with a fictional piglet :/

His heart murmur is still there, but the PD says we shouldn't be too worried yet. She judges Chubbs' motor development as very advanced; he can pull himself up to standing and walk when holding on to our hands. The only thing she highlighted, is that we need to be extremely watchful, lest he hurts himself :/ Urm... we try our best. Chubbs waved his goodbyes as we were leaving, and the nurses were impressed that he can do so on cue. Well done, buddy!

To celebrate Chubbs turning 8months, my friend, M, and I arranged for Chubbs to go on a date with Isabelle, her darling 11month-old girl. It's also an apt day to meet too, in celebration of our first Mommys' Day. Shouldn't our hubbies be planning this for us instead? Sigh :/ We met at Vivo City for coffee at a not-so-impressive Japanese/ Taiwanese cafe, because it was the only place that wasn't really crowded. We now know why.

I hadn't seen Isabelle for a few months, and was excited to see how she has grown. Isabelle looks like a porcelain doll! Her bangs frame her chubby cheeks so beautifully. I asked for her permission to carry her a few times, but she blatantly rejected my advances :/ So we moved on, and let the kiddos get friendly instead. Usually, Chubbs would be the eager beaver, super excited to be in Isabelle's company. But today he was more laid back. Maybe because it was his first time in Vivo, and the undying crowds fazed him a little. Conversely, Isabelle was very interested in Chubbs today and kept trying to touch him. He allowed her to, and was very happy just sitting in his stroller, soaking it all in. But M was afraid Isabelle would scratch him, so we fended her off most of the time. Sorry, Belle :( Was that what made you cry?

It was a little awkward at first. But check out her adorable leggings!

Then there was eye-contact.

Isabelle soon made her move.

And Chubbs made his move when she wasn't looking.

It was great for the Mamas and Papas to catch up and talk kids! I got the necessary tips from M to tide me over the next few developmental weeks. She has consistently been my sounding block and I go to her for advice and views on baby food, sleep patterns, milk issues, etc. I really appreciate you, M! It was time to go all too soon, but we'll be meeting up again soon, I'm sure.
