Stand Up!

Our little oompah-loompah, Mae, spends at least an hour before bed every night, practising new moves and tricks. A few months ago, she would wave and clap non-stop, then she would speed-crawl all over, and now... she's standing up! On her own! It's a huge achievement, I think, for a 10-month old. Or is she right on schedule? I'm almost ashamed to say that I've lost track of when babies are supposed to do what. But I'm still super proud of our little champ. But probably not as proud as Chubbs is. He's the one who keeps bragging to others what she can do. He'll proudly tell our relatives things like, "She can say kor-kor, you know?" Or, "My Mei-mei can wave when you say bye to her." So now, he keeps saying he want to see Mei-mei stand up. The only downside to this, is that soon, I'll have two little mischiefs to run after.

Smiling proudly.

Tourists in Singapore

We were tourists for a day, visiting the famous hotspot, Gardens by the Bay, with our aunt J and uncle B. I was apprehensive about the crowd, seeing that it was a public holiday, but it actually turned out to be a great day. I'm sure it was also because we had good company.

We enjoyed the domes greatly because of the air-conditioned comfort. The hubby is a lover of flowers and plants, so the different species and where they are from was interesting for him. Chubbs was on the lookout for purple (his favourite colour) flowers, and was most thrilled to have gotten to sit on a tiger (his favourite animal) sculpture.

I'm looking forward to making more visits to study the plants more closely. I was particularly fascinated by the Baobabs, and loved the funky names the Aussie plants had. We'll be back soon, I'll be sure to pack a picnic.

Our First Hike With Two Kids

This morning, we packed the kids up, together with the harnesses, and headed to Bukit Timah for our first hike since having little Mae join the gang.

I carried Mae in the Baby Bjorn and the hubby took our 17 plus kilos Chubbs. It was quite a weight for Fuzzy, considering the harness itself weight two kilos, plus the boy, plus our water bottles. We trudged ahead and tackled the initial super steep climb head-on. I was gasping like crazy from the get-go. Mae weights almost 10kg now. Bringing the both of us up that slope is no joke. Plus, the Baby Bjorn was constricting my diaphragm and I couldn't take deep enough breaths. The hubby bravely hiked on, even though I know it must have been so tough.

I never felt so relieved and proud to reach the summit. Chubbs hiked down and had a lot of fun doing it. My knees are aching now, but I think it was great fun nonetheless. Will definitely do it again the next time we get a chance.

10-Months Old!

My super-active, always chuckling, speed-crawler turns 10-months old today! Where has the time gone? She's fast becoming a young lady, having mastered the art of being coy, charming, and manipulative, sometimes all done together. I am excited, yet dreading to find how she'll be as a toddler. Her favourite past-times in the world, are eating baby puffs, being held by Mommy, and playing with Kor-Kor Chubbs. Just being in the general vicinity of him makes her squeal with delight. This is the most rewarding part about being a mom.

Time for puffs!
