"Z-O-O Zoo!"

Ok, so Chubbs has learnt to spell zoo. It's been a long time coming, because we have been promising him trips to the zoo almost every weekend, but we either get rained out, or get stuck doing something else that we run out of time to visit. Nonetheless, last Saturday was blazing hot, and we managed to free up an afternoon to keep our word to our son.

Happy in his new hiking harness.

Thrilled to see turtles and fishes swimming.

Pygmy hippo! One of my favourites!

The best part of the zoo for us, is always the Fragile Forest, where mousedeer, lemurs, bats, peacocks and more, run freely between our feet and we get to observe them in their natural habitat and be a part of their daily lives.
Chubbs locked eyes with the mousedeer for quite a bit. He couldn't decide if it looked more like a kangaroo or a rabbit, and kept asking it to hop.

Taking a break in a gazebo before walking out of the zoo.
