18-Months and Updates

One and a half years; what a milestone! What a celebration! It also meant that Chubbs was due for a booster jab and his annual heart echo and ECG :/ I anticipated that it was not going to be an easy feat having him lie down and keep still for 20-min, so I brought along a new set of Tonka trucks for him to fiddle with. Thankfully, the trucks worked rather well (together with the endless animals biscuits he gobbled down), and the doctor and nurse were able to get good visuals and readings without too much difficulty.

Not-so-good news is, Chubbs' two holes in the heart have not closed up, and there's no sign of them closing because they are still around the same size as last year. Plus, we the doctor found another problem. Chubbs' heart beats with a sporadic extra beat. This is not ideal, but it's not severe. And there's no treatment necessary at this point, because Chubbs is still very active and the heart defects don't seem to hinder his development. Anyway, he was brave after the heart scan and took his jab without even a whimper. Good boy!

After his echo and jab we had time to head down to Ikea to pick up a set of proper adult cooking utensils just for Chubbs. He's very into cooking and baking these days, and I thought, to encourage him further, he needed his own, real tools. So he got a balloon whisk, a Roux whisk (aka a flat whisk), a spatula, a ladle and a pasta fork. Cool!

Then it was to Vivo to collect Fuzzy's spectacles and after Fuzzy could see comfortably again, we thought we'd enjoy a happy-hour glass of beer (which we have hardly done since Chubbs was born) at Brotzeit.
It was a nice change having Chubbs with us; the three of us snuggled up as we watched the ships pass, sipped our beers, chomped on a pretzel, and admired the sun set.

He posed for us when we requested for a funny face.

Not a scene you see everyday.

Just before heading home for dinner, we thought we'd bring Chubbs for another treat, since he was so brave at the doctor's. We went to our current favourite haunt, Haato at Ridgewood, for gelato and waffles. I ordered Chubbs a scoop of the milk-flavored one, and he cringed at the first mouthful because it was so cold.

I know this might sound strange, but he didn't quite like the gelato. He stopped after a few more bites. Give this boy biscuits any day!
